DuRide

DuRide is a non profit organization that was founded in 2008. A volunteer board of directors provides oversight and vision for an executive director who in turn manages the organization. Over 250 members and over 160 volunteers are involved in the organization, and we have have provided over 60,000 rides since inception. Destinations include medical appointments, shopping, social, to and from paid and volunteer jobs, restaurants, church activities and any other destination those who can drive themselves would visit.

We provide door to door transportation to our members age 65 and older who need transportation by coordinating rides requested with volunteers. Volunteers provide rides using their own vehicles. Members and destinations must be in Asbury, Dubuque or East Dubuque. We provide approximately 40 rides per day, 7 days a week. Volunteers are always needed, and the demand for our service is consistently growing 6-12% per year. Volunteerism is absolutely flexible to fit anyone's schedule. There are no fixed hours of commitment. Some volunteers provide several rides per week, or even per day, others provide just a few rides in a year. Many volunteers are involved seasonally.
