Purpose:

The Cable TV Commission advises the City Council on matters pertaining to cable regulation in Dubuque and the use of the local access channels and facilities by

developing policies for the use of equipment, access channel scheduling, the daily regulation of the cable franchise, the resolution of subscriber complaints, and other matters pertaining to community programming; encouraging interest in and development of decidedly local programming; making recommendations for the expenditure of funds for access equipment; and monitoring the operation of the cable system

 

The City’s previous cable television franchise agreement with Mediacom included an annual grant program to purchase equipment with which to produce local public, educational, and governmental programming. Qualified organizations – those with a principal place of business within City limits or a principal regular meeting place within City limits – may apply for funding from this program. The Cable TV Commission will consider the application and make a recommendation to the City Council.
