Volunteer: (SHIIP) Senior Health Insurance Information Program Counselors and Office AssistantsThe Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) sponsored by UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital is seeking dedicated volunteers to join as counselors. SHIIP counselors help with questions regarding Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare claims processing, Medicare Advantage, Medicare prescription drug plans and long term care insurance. This is a critical service for senior citizens in our community and solely volunteer run. Training is provided by knowledgeable staff in Des Moines and all training expenses are covered. Volunteers are encouraged to join now to become trained for Open Enrollment (October-December). Each year during Open Enrollment the SHIIP office at Finley Hospital is full of appointments and clients are referred to the helpline, with additional counselors we can make sure our community is meeting the needs of all those seeking assistance with Medicare.
