Volunteer: Walk to End Alzheimer's Executive Leadership Team

Lend your talents to organize one of our largest events. Committee meets once a month January - October. Volunteers get the opportunity to work on sponsorships, recruitment, fundraising, team retention, marketing & outreach, logistics, and reaching our mission. Next event date October 12th, 2024.

We meet once a month January until Walk Day. Both virtual and in person options.

Lead a group of individuals with common problems, needs and interests who come together to share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia in a safe environment. The goal of the Alzheimer's Association support groups is to provide emotional, social and/or educational support to group members. 

Are you interested in educating and spreading awareness about Alzheimer's and dementia in your community? Join us as a volunteer community educator. Training is provided, and you will learn to teach any or all of the Alzheimer's Association education programs on the flyer below. Are you outgoing? Do you have a passion for the events? Are you ready to spread awareness and find more people to join the fight against Alzheimer’s disease? If you answered yes, we need your help!

The Alzheimer's Association, Greater Iowa chapter is looking for volunteers to help us with our second signature event, The Longest Day. You are invited to join The Longest Day Team Task Force where you will play a vital role in team recruitment and cultivation, as well as marketing and promoting the event. Meetings and check ins will take place throughout the next few months via conference call.

The Longest Day is a unique sunrise-to-sunset team fundraising event to honor the strength, heart and endurance of those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Held on June 20, the summer solstice, teams will participate in any activity of their choice to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
