Who We Are
We are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in about 70 countries. Our affiliate was founded in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1991. Since then, the affiliate's service area has grown to include both Dubuque and Jackson Counties. To date, we have built 24 new homes, rehabilitated 6 owner-occupied homes, and performed numerous repairs through our Critical Repairs Program. Habitat's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Dubuque and Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity has a ReStore located at 4949 Chavenelle Road in Dubuque. The ReStore diverts usable building materials, fixtures, appliances, and other household items from the landfill and resells these items to the public for a fraction of the cost. Sales from donated items help Habitat build more homes in the community.
What We Do
We build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. We partner with families in need of decent housing that are ready to take action to control their long-term housing costs. Partner families and volunteers work together to build and rehabilitate homes. The homes are sold to families and financed with affordable, no-interest loans. Habitat homeowners' affordable monthly mortgage payments help fund the building of more homes.
