Who We Are
At St. Columbkille, we've maintained a traditional neighborhood school environment, and we truly consider our students, staff and parents family. We worship together, support each other and place high value on a mutual respect for one another. Our students benefit tremendously from the partnerships we have with our parents, parish and local higher education institutions.
Thank you for choosing to volunteer at St. Columbkille! We do require volunteers to complete a background check. Please click on the following link for directions on how to complete the Archdiocese of Dubuque Safe Environment training required for all volunteers.
You will also need to read the Holy Family Volunteer Handbook and sign the acknowledgement form on the last page of the handbook. Go to https://www.holyfamilydbq.org/get-involved/ and scroll down to Volunteer Forms. Click on the Volunteer Handbook.
When the above volunteer requirements have been completed, or for questions, please contact Krystal Tranel at ktranel@holyfamilydbq.org or 563-582-5456.
What We Do
Using the Holy Family core curriculum, our devoted staff is trained to differentiate instruction in a way that cultivates each child's gifts and motivates each child to reach his or her fullest potential. We offer resource programs for special-needs students and accelerated learning programs to ensure that students are performing at their highest ability.
We challenge our students not only to be their best academically but also personally. In 2011, the level at which our students are achieving was recognized by the National Department of Education, and St. Columbkille was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. In 2018, we were recognized as a Green Ribbon School for our environmental leadership. In addition to the religious component of our curriculum, we're a Leader in Me™ school, which means we implement the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People into our curriculum. This encourages students to become their best self by practicing authentic character and leadership-building skills in daily experiences. Serving children in preschool through fifth grade on Dubuque’s south end, St. Columbkille utilizes its culture of community and effective instruction as a Loras College Professional Development School, to ensure each child develops his or her leadership skills inside and outside the classroom.
