Rape crisis center direct service staff and volunteers must complete a 40-hour sexual assault crisis intervention training, facilitated by the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault. In order to participate in may of the volunteer opportunities completion of this training is mandatory.
As part of the ICASA-sponsored 40-hour Crisis Intervention Training, participants must complete 12 hours of material prior to attending the in-person training and 4 hours of material post training. In-person training is conducted by Riverview Center staff virtually and is generally a small group, allowing time for questions and further discussion on the topics.
Even if you aren't sure you want to volunteer in a direct service role, this training will be beneficial for anyone who is committed to creating a community free of violence.
Before the training, please check out our events tab for an upcoming volunteer orientation session to learn more about our opportunities and the date of the next 40-Hour Crisis Intervention Training.
