Volunteers turn out in droves in the wake of a major disaster. Volunteer Reception Centers (VRC) are critical in managing spontaneous volunteers in any emergency/disaster response. The VRC assists in turning spontaneous volunteers into a united force and are crucial in avoiding a disaster within a disaster. Disaster can happen at any time, anywhere and can range from storms and inclement weather to flooding. An event in March 2023 aims to provide preparation for just such an occasion.
The National Service Partnership will host a Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) Mock Up training on March 23rd, all are welcome to attend the free event. Residents are asked to RSVP to this posting OR by sending an email to paula.paiderlicht@dbqunitedway.org OR sberna@cityofdubuque.org.
