Professional duties tailored to intern's interests.
Interns will, utilizing training the Lantern Center provides, & sessions where they can "shadow" (watch) current tutoring pairs to learn tutoring strategies, will eventually be asked to serve in areas they are comfortable doing, and which they have the skills to complete, serving in roles such as:
- conversational English partner
- citizenship tutor
- English tutor
- child watch area volunteer
- completing light cleaning duties (sweeping, vacuuming, wiping tables or white boards)
- light "other duties as assigned", with training (e.g., make copies, make coffee/tea/put out snacks, sharpening pencils, & possibly running errands occasionally - such as hanging up flyers at churches & schools, picking up office supplies or teatime treats for Lantern birthday/citizenship students using Lantern Center money, etc.)
