The Dubuque Farmers' Market runs every Saturday from May through October, rain or shine. This is our 179th season! In addition to an on-staff Market Manager, we need three people every week to work at the Money Market booth.
What is a Money Market booth? The booth is located in the center of the event space. It serves three primary purposes:
1. Sells same-as-cash wooden tokens for folks who didn't bring cash. This is a seamless process so our vendors do not have to spend precious sales on credit card fees. We sell these in $5 increments.
2. Sells same-as-cash blue tokens for folks who use EBT cards. We sell these in $5 increments.
3. Process the state program called Double Up Food Bucks. EBT customers are offered up to $10 extra dollars each week to spend on fresh food. These are business card-size coupons that are redeemable at select vendors.
The Money Market booth volunteers also answer general questions, hand out maps, and sell t-shirts for our DFM Emergency Vendor Fund.
This role does require a 30-minute training. This can be done in person or over Zoom.
